Dear Student and Parents/Guardians:
The 2018-2019 school year at Liverpool Middle School promises to be exciting and rewarding. The first day of school is Thursday, September 6, 2018. We will continue the LMS tradition of providing rigorous, and stimulating academic pro grams along with a wide variety of extracurricular activities. I urge both parents and students to become active partici pants in school life here at the middle school. Included in this mailing you will find very important information that will help your child be prepared for the first days of school.

Wednesday, September 19- Parent Teacher Organization Meeting (PTO) 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 26·Back to School Night (for Parents ONLY) 6:30 p.m.
School Opens
Thursday, September 6, 2018, 7:50 a.m. - 2:50 p.m. All students report for a full day of classes. Please bring a notebook, paper, pen and pencil. Report immediately to your homeroom, which is shown on the sticker in the letter mailed to your home.
Homeroom and Schedules
In homeroom, students will receive their class schedule and locker assignment. All students will participate in an orientation. Students are to report immediately to homeroom each day when they arrive.
Open locker Days
Liverpool Middle will be open Monday, August 27 through Friday, August 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for students to find their homeroom and practice opening a locker.
Seventh Grade Transition
The LMS leadership team and I have created a special transition program for all incoming seventh grade students that will occur on the first day of school. All students will receive building tours, instruction on opening lockers, extended time for transitioning between classes, maps with rooms numbers and teacher names, extended time for lunch, instruction on how to read a schedule, and early release at dismissal. We have worked diligently to create a comprehensive program where all students will experience success the first day of school!
Student Agenda will be Chromebook
Each student is provided with a Chromebook at the start of the school year. Students are required to have this for every class. Student may not take the Chromebook home for any reason . Students who intentionally damage their assigned Chromebook will be financially responsible for its repair/replacement. Students will use Google calendar to record all class assignments, music lessons, and other school related activities.
Annual Student Verification Form
The annual student information verification form was mailed to your home. Please review the form, make changes where necessary, and have your child return this form to their homeroom teacher within the first two weeks of school.
Language Arts Summer Reading
The 7th and 8th Grade Summer Reading lists are posted on the district website at www.liverpool.k12.ny.us The reading portion of the assignments are to be completed by the first day of classes in September. Please remind your children to finish their reading assignments.
Transportation
Bus routes will be sent out via Key Communicator at the end of August. They will not be published in the School Bell. Questions should be directed to the Transportation Center - 453-0287.
School Hours 7:50 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.
Doors open at 7:50 a.m .daily for students not participating in the breakfast program. All students will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m .
Attendance
If your child is absent or will be tardy, please call 315-453-1 147. Please leave a reason as to why your child is out. An excused note should be returned to LMS upon the child's return.
School Breakfast
LCSD offers universal breakfast free to all students. Students participating in the breakfast program will be allowed to enter the building at 7:45 a.m, all other students may enter the building at 7:50 a .m .
School Lunch
Students may buy a hot lunch from the cafeteria or bring a lunch to school. Snacks, milk and juices are also available for purchase. Lunch menus are posted on the district website at www.liverpool.kl2.ny.us. The 2018-2019 application form for free and reduce lunch are available in the main office, counseling center, or on-line at www.liverpool.k12.ny.us.

Student Pictures - Please read carefully.
A brochure from Lifetouch National School Studios was mailed to your home. Picture day is Friday ,September 14. All students will have their picture taken on that day. [No purchase is required]. However, if you would like to order a picture package, complete the form and have your student bring in the order form to the photographer on picture day. All photo inquires should be directed to Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch at 800-852-0674. (The school yearbook is NOT part of the picture package.)
