Thought Exchange Regarding Reopening of School
Wednesday, May 20, 2020
As you know, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that New York school facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, and he will announce a decision regarding summer school in the next week or so.
As the Liverpool Central School District and schools across the state look to the future, many are thinking about what a return to school buildings might look like and how best to support students, families and staff. I know many of you have expressed concerns and opinions, as well as asked me questions about this matter.
Currently, there is a statewide virtual conversation taking place about reopening schools. This exchange is facilitated by the 37 New York BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services). Liverpool is a member of the Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES.
I encourage everyone to use the link below to share your thoughts and help evaluate this critical issue. If English is not your first language, there is a translation feature.

Participants also will be able to read and rate other participants' responses. Based on those ratings, the most important thoughts will rise to the top. All contributions are anonymous.
The exchange results will be shared with elected officials so they will have a more global understanding of the thoughts and ideas our community members have about returning to in-person schooling.
I encourage our LCSD families, teachers and staff to participate in this exchange
